Overview
Concept
Reimagining San Marcos as an open archive of metalwork. By documenting metalworks from the city architecture, the project transforms everyday infrastructure into a system of discovery. It frames the city as something to be read through pattern, material, and repetition, encouraging participants to explore freely and build personal connections through observation and movement.
Execution
The project takes form as a hybrid experience between a physical booklet and a digital archive, both centered on documenting metalwork throughout San Marcos. The physical form acts as a collection of images, notes, and patterns that support walking-based exploration. The digital form extends this experience through an interactive map and archive though photographs and drawings, allowing users to navigate, document, and contribute observations.
Reasoning
The project aims to encourage observation, curiosity, and personal discovery through walking, documentation, and interaction. By combining a physical booklet and a digital archive, it creates a system where users can navigate freely, record their sensory experiences, and reinterpret the city through patterns and material presence.
